However, after researching the box scores for each game, I discovered that their offense allowed 14 points (fumble & interception returns for TDs) and their special teams allowed 14 points on kick returns for TDs. This means that the Vikings defense allowed only 105 points (7.5 p/g). However, their defense also scored 21 points on interception and fumble returns for TDs. When the 21 points they scored is subtracted from what they allowed, their net points allowed was 84, which was a ridiculously low 6 points per game! I checked several other teams that allowed very few points and the only team to come close to the 1969 Vikings was the 1977 Falcons who allowed 129 points, with their defense allowing 122, and their defensive net points allowed being 101, which was 7.2 points per game.
