The Atlanta Falcons were seemingly considering a change in helmets and also uniforms for the 1974 season. There is, as far as we can find, very little back story.

According helmet historian this was one of the last prototypes MacGregor offered before their demise. MacGregor got out of the helmet industry soon after this was offered.
