Earlier today, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, and Talanoa Hufanga were all named First-team on the annual Associated Press (AP) NFL All-Pro team. They represent the defensive line, linebacking corps, and secondary of the 49er defense which was the top-ranked unit in the NFL.

They are the eighth defense (The Bucs did it twice) since the merger to have a player from every level of the defense make First-team AP All-Pro in the same season. The 1970 merger was chosen because that is the first season the AP began selecting a combined All-Pro team. In the 1960s they chose separate All-NFL and All-AFL and going through those and then the 1950s (when defensive platoons were first included) will be a topic for another post.

Happy for Chubb at least making second team but disappointed Derrick Henry was snubbed. I believe he was MVP for the year because the rest of their offense was woeful.
In terms of teams with three layered All-Pros, surprised the Eagles with White-Joyner-Allen not on this list.
Nickerson in 1999 was close to giving the Bucs four All-Pros ...
I guess no Legion Of Boom members from the defensive line for Seattle?
It’ll be interesting whether Derrick Henry, Myles Garrett or Derwin James make the PFWA or SN all pro team.

DeleteMildly surprised none of the Ray Lewis/Ed Reed Ravens are here with Haloti Ngata, I supposed Terrell Suggs was an OLB, and not a DE--so he wouldnt have been on a separate level of defense from Lewis
