Bills Linebacker Matt Milano Likely Out For Rest of the 2023 Season

 By John Turney
Apparently, Bills' linebacker Matt Milano is out of the season after suffering a pair of injuries in yesterday's game. It's being reported he broke a leg and also blew out a knee as well and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Officially the Bills are reporting it as a "knee/lower leg" and his coach Sean McDermott said he "wasn't sure" if Milano would be out the rest of the season or not which conflicted somewhat with earlier reports.

In any event, it is sad news for Milano who had signed a contract extension in the offseason that would make him a Bill through 2026.

In 2018 we noticed Milano's penchant for making tackles behind the line of scrimmage and after that season named him honorable mention All-Pro (and in 2021 as well). In 2022 he made All-Pro on the major teams after getting noticed.

In three of his seven seasons he recorded double digits in run/pass stuffs -- defined as a tackle behind the line of scrimmage on a run or pass play -- and three of the four years he's played basically a full season.

This year he was on likely on his way to another until injuries hit him. That is something that has dogged him his entire career. He's only been able to play a full schedule twice in his career.

Here are a couple of clips we posted to Twitter (X) a few weeks ago that typify his game and are similar to the ones we first posted in 2018—

Some guys seem to have a feel for knifing into the backfield and making plays. Junior Seau was the best. Lavonte David is right there with him. Milano is not in their class but he's probably in the group right behind them—at least he would be if he could just stay healthy.

Tough loss for Buffalo. I wonder if they would sign Rashaan Evans?
    This guy is already well-traveled.
