  1. Thanks John.

Does anyone know the top 3 vote getters amongst the five senior/coach/contributor candidates? Were the top 3 lumped together with the moderns during the final vote? I still cant understand why Baughan and/or Holmgren couldnt get elected?

Disappointed that we couldnt have had at least a six member class but happy for the inductees. I still look at Eric Allen as a second senior candidate elected, rather than as a modern because his eligibility was just about gone.

I noticed that TOFTWO did an article nearly a month ago about players who improve their HOF chances with a SB win and I feel despite the loss, Jones will join Reid, Kelce, Mahomes and Hill into the Hall. Not so sure about former Chief, Mathieu.

As for the Eagles, the victory will help Lane Johnson and could possibly help Barkley, Brown, Smith, Slay, Mitchell and DeJean in the future. Sirianni benefits from the victory, thanks to his hires of Moore and Fangio, but the teams collapse last year--with the suspension of Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro, a confidant who kept Sirianni calm--still could affect him despite vindication this year ... maybe not.

    1. No, it is not known who the top 3 were ... in the sen/contrib/coach category.

I am surprised Holmgren didn't get it. Baughan I thought was a possible but not a lock...but IMo a decent chance.

Yeah, I agree that the loss will not hurt the big names on KC.

Lane Johnson did get a biog boost. To me, too early for others. Johnson will be one of those that will be debated a few years but a second ring and all his other stuff should get him in.

  2. Hmm. Eric Allen is deserving. But he is more deserving than Lemar Parish, a 5x All Pro, 8x Pro Bowl honoree and terrific return specialist? Answer: no. Or what about Louis Wright of the Broncos, 5x All Pro at corner and 1970's All Decade honoree?
Louis Wright was the epitome of a "shutdown corner." And then there's the curious case of Deron Cherry, still languishing without a call from Canton.
Sterling Sharpe is deserving. But he is more deserving than Del Shofner?
Is Jared Allen more deserving than Gene Brito, famous for Washington in the 1950s, who racked up 5 All Pro's and 5 Pro Bowls at defensive end? Answer: no.
    None of this makes sense.

    1. All fair points. I'd add Albert Lewis to the Parrish/Wright group of shutdown corner. All > Allen, IMO.

    2. BW ...

Unfortunately, all the players you mentioned couldnt even advance beyond a semifinal list of 60 seniors. Gene Brito couldnt even make an 183 member preliminary list. It doent make sense and we will be lucky if there can even be two senior nominees per year in the future. The senior committee has a tough responsibility. Continue to endorse the best possible candidates, or go for more recent players--after 1975--that can actually get elected?

  3. Yeah Allen was very good but I can’t say he is better than Lewis or wright. Parrish has a slight edge on Allen too.

  4. It's dumb to only put in four players. Going to create problems down the line.

  5. I’m really angered by the fact that they only selected 3 players (4 total). That’s ridiculous when you have deserving players waiting. I’m beginning to think the whole process is broken.

    1. I couldn't agree more. Just think someday Lamar Jackson will be a 1st ballot guy but Randall Cunningham received no consideration.
