The stuff king for 2025 is Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, who had 18. A "run/pass stuff" is a statistic that tracks tackles for loss on run plays and pass plays, not counting sacks, accounted for the same was sacks are. The way the NFL compiles a similar statistic often leaves out certain plays and has not been consistent since 1999.
I have followed the lead of Stats Perform (formerly Stats, LLC.) and compiled a leaderboard every year.
Breaking it down, Crosby had 17 run stuffs and one pass stuff in addition to his 10 sacks.
Here are the leaders:
Likely 2025 Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett had 12 stuffs to match with his 23 sacks, making a total of 35 sacks plus stuffs. It is one of the top seasons ever, rivalling J.J. Watt who was the guy who just dominated in this stat.

Should add 5th best season since 1982 - and no seasons prior to that known to be better. Maxx was great against the run this yeear and it was lost in Raider dissarray and the absence of sacks - who has to throw against a shitty team.

ReplyDeleteIts too bad that Bolton slips under the radar. I dont know about his coverage skills but any time I watch the Chiefs, I know he will always find the ball and go 100%. A true throwback type MLB. He has made so many big plays for Spags defense.
If Crosby was on a better team he would would be more highly rated than possibly Garrett
ReplyDeleteHoping he gets traded to a better team ... but then a gain, Browns are no picnic for Garrett, either

ReplyDeleteWaiting to hear back from John Turney, Nick.
I will ask you the same question ... if a pass rusher gets a clean shot at the QB, forcing an intentional grounding penalty and loss of down, is that considered a passing tackle for loss, or tackle for loss itself? Or even penalty tackle for loss?
Tod Maher would be best person to ask, but a forced grounding penalty is not considered a tfl or sack or anything. It's just a penalty and players are not officially credited for forcing them, though, IMO they should. So if Garrett had forced one grounding call this year, it would not show up in his personal stats.

DeleteThanks John, for clarification.
