1947 Tuffy Leemans's All-Time Backfield

As the NFL kicked off its 101st season last night we take a look back at some of the league's greatest players. Today we have the Giants former Hall of Fame halfback, Tuffy Leemans, listing his all-time backfield. Leemans played 8 years in the NFL with the Giants (1936-1943), he led the NFL in rushing in his rookie year (1936) and helped the Giants win the 1938 NFL Championship. He was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1978. For his all-time backfield he choose: 

QB- Sammy Baugh

HB- Dutch Clark

HB- Cliff Battles

FB- Bronko Nagurski

Leemans had high praise for Sammy Baugh, saying: 

"Baugh is the best passer and the best football player of all-time. He's the finest thing that ever happened to pro football."
